Tropical and Goldfish Food

Sorry if this as already been asked but I did a search and it came up empty. I have some Goldfish in one tank and Tropical fish in my community tank. I was feeding them both flakes tonight and I was wondering why I have different types of flakes.

What exactly is the difference between Goldfish flakes and Tropical fish flakes? And why is there a difference?

Goldfish should be getting a bit more veggies, and their flakes probably have that considered.
Tropical flakes try to cover the basic tropical fish (and only do a so-so job, considering there are so many different tropical fish).

Goldfish need more veggies than normal tropical fish. Some goldfish eat more too!

I try to find foods meant for the type of fish, like cichlid food, betta food, etc.. I've been getting Omega One, but found a new LFS that has New Life Spectrum food.

Hello there fellow Coloradoan. Which LFS do you to? And do you know any down in the Springs that might carry New Life Spectrum?

No, I don't know any stores in the Springs carrying NLS. This new LFS is the first one that I've found carrying it in Denver. They gave me a sample to try on our angels, since our male loves to eat but will ignore some foods.. and they LOVE it! I like that the pellets are smaller than the Omega One cichlid pellets and a lot easier for the angels to eat.

I'm going to "Sherman Tank Company" at 84th & Sheridan.
