live homegrown food

Okay, so I live in the country and there are native bugs that naturally have larvae in water around here and I was wondering if they are okay to give to my fish? specifically dwarf puffers. There a midge fly larvae ( called 'blood worm' in the aquarium buisness) Misquito larvea, daphnia, and others I dont even know what they are. Would these hurt my puffers or create nice snacks?

It's not generally good to drop 'nature' into a tank. You could introduce bacteria or disease, etc.

What is the differance to these and the ones that you buy? Bugs are bugs how do you make them 'clean'?

What's bought in the store is raised in controlled conditions and usually sterilized so it's not exposed to the things the 'nature' food is.
