Are These Brine Shrimp?

Hello

My female molly gave birth to 11 babies and I heard that brine shrimp is a good food for the fry. I got some "sun-dried shrimp" but I'm not sure if it's brine shrimp. The store owner said that it's good food for fry. Can you tell if this is brine shrimp? Here are some pics. Sorry for the low quality. Just using a camera phone!

Oh and I heard that newly-born fry still have yolk and doesn't need to be fed for the first 3 days. Is this true? Oh and will they live with flake food?

Thanks in advance!

The brine shrimp you want come in a liquid form. Most people use a form of syringe to squirt this into a tank. iridescent sharks like it, but its also what you want for your fry. That stuff is just too big.

Thanks for the info Narcisus!

Yep, I think they're too big to be brine shrimp. I heard that the maximum size of brine shrimp is only 1 cm!(or is it 1 inch?)

I think I'll stop feeding my fry some of these.......hehe........I usually crush them into tiny particles when feeding them....

look for the liquid form, if at all possible, I know how hard spare money can be to come by, or just look for alternatives to brine shrimp, but I'm glad you are going to stop feeding the fries those shrimp. Hope it all works out with all your fry.

Livebearer fry don't have yolk sacs and I'd feed them within the first 12 hours. Either crushed/powdered flakes. baby brine shrimp or crushed egg yolk or crushed thawed frozen peeled peas. You'll just want to feed them a very small amount 4 times a day and clean the bottom daily.

I think those shrimp would be too big for young fry.

Those are sun dried river shrimp. Can't imagine that they'd be good for fry, but for other fish in your tanks they would be great. I crush them up and feed them to my tiger barbs and red tail shark. They seem to love the shrimp.

My LFS has frozen BABY BRINE SHRIMP, in the freezer with the bloodworms...They come in little plastic pop-outs. I just use one morning & night for the fry, then the other two feedings I use crushed flakes.

They're are soooo many food varieties, its hard to choose what fish will like the best without spending about fifty bucks.
