Getting otos to eat...

Re: Getting otos to eat...

Are they busily eating algae? My otos normally don't stop their cleaning long enough to pay attention to anything else! If it was an established tank that you put them into, that already had fish, I really wouldn't worry too much unless they're acting abnormally other than that (not swimming around eating algae for instance).

Re: Getting otos to eat...

If their getting enough to eat their little bellies will be round. It may take a couple of times for them to realize veggies are food, so give them another couple of tries before giving up. I wouldn't leave the veggies any longer than over night though, and the Otos are more likely to eat it at night.

Re: Getting otos to eat...

the algae wafers don't really dissolve & that's why they can be a problem if left in the tank more than 12 hours. I've seen a tank wiped out by a nirite spike from them. probably the other fish are eating what the otos don't.

you could try zucchini or lettuce as well.
