Hmmm abusive love or two males

Hi,
I recently got what I was told was a male and female firemouth. All they do is hide so far(only had them a day) ,but if they are a boy and a girl want they hang with eatchother? One pecks at the other, its not relentless its just every once in a while when it gets to close it will push it and bite at it a little bit.

They are sharing the same cave I built so the biting it is not serious enough to make the other fish leave. Would a pair still show this type of behavior?
Is it normal for them to do nothing but hide their first few days? When should I expect to see them more active?

Sorry for all these questions, I go on vacation tommorow and the fish will be under the care of my girlfriend so i want to give her some information on what to look for.

Oh and they are in the tank with corries and tiger barbs so they shouldent be scared of anything in the tank.

Water perimeters are great.
Hope you guys can help me to stop worrying.

Hello Aaron. It is natural for many new fish to hide for a few days once they are in new homes. Once they adapt I'm sure they'll be out and about. Best of luck and have fun on your vacation, stay safe!

hi aaron if it is a male and female its probley that the male wants to mate with the female, if its 2 males then they probley are fighting over territory. thats my best guess, i hope it helps
