I use BioMax in all my AC filters.. that much more room for bacteria to live..

One thing I will say is double bag it with either a new panty hose, or buy some extra media bags at the LFS.. I've had the bag it comes in come apart on me more than once..

I use those in my ACs. They are good. Never had problems with the bags coming apart.

I've always used them in mine in addition to the sponge and carbon. They say to replace them on a set schedule but I usualy just rinsed them off unless they were really bad.

oh and I never had problems with any of the bags either.

Good morning,
I use them as well. I also double bag them with another type of media bag. I've ripped several so double bagging resolved that issue.
You can use them for filter media until they crumble. Just rinse them in siphoned tank water and never tap water.

It's an excellent biological medium. When not utilizing Carbon ... I often use 2 biomax inserts.

More recently, I've had a couple of the bags come apart on me as well. One was even ripped at the seam coming from the box. I've used a second bag at times. Sometimes I'll also put the biomax insert in a Whisper 'bio bag'. This provides extra mechanical filtration and helps keep finer particulate matter from clogging the biomax prematurely. The bio bag needs to be rinsed often and flow monitored.
