Emperor 400 parts

Hi everyone.

So over the last year or so I have been collecting parts slowly, and cheaply, to set up a 55 gallon aquarium that was given to me for free. It was only the tank and base so I had a lot to get, and I was unemployed half the time so money was a bit of an issue. Craigslist was very helpful though. One of the things I got on craigslist was an Emperor 400 filter for $20. It was a little dirty but had all the parts and I was able to clean it up pretty good. The only thing it didn’t have that I did not realize until I started putting my tank together was it lacked the midlevel intake and the extension tube. Maybe not a huge deal, but I would rather the regular intake bring in water from the bottom as apposed to the water the filter just spit out.

Now I was able to find the extension tube online which is great, however I can not find the mid level intake, which does not seem like a big loss except for the fact that you can not connect the extension tube to the filter without the midlevel intake. The size of the extension tube is the same as the regular intake tube so you can not slide them together. I have yet to be able to find a single place that carries the mid level intake. In fact marineland themselves do not even offer the part on their website.

Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find that part or any other way to make it work? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. Mods, if there is a better place to put this please feel free to relocate it and let me know. I just want sure where to ask this.

Hi Bindel 2303, I have an emperor 400 as well and during a thorough filter cleaning, I accidently stepped on my "mid level intake piece" and broke it. The grey switch that controls the intake came off and the black part was cracked.

I contacted Marineland, explained the situation and they were able to provide the part for a few dollars.

Thanks for your replies, if I can't get the one from Jaysee I will give Marineland a try.
