Help!! filter doesn't fit in tank!

I have a problem. I recently purchased a 125 gallon six feet tank! super awesome... will post pictures when i get the chance.

prior to buying the tank, i bought two ac70 filters because they were super cheap ($30bucks cdn each). now the tank has arrived and i put the ac70 filter on it and it doesn't fit on the back!! i am currently hanging them on the sides... but because of that i can't put the glass canopy or the light fixture on the top.

does anyone have any solution to this? or any DIY ideas? the reason the filter doesn't fit is because there is a plastic edging to support the glass canopy and that plastic edging is too wide to allow the ac70 to slide in. i don't want to do any sort of cutting the plastic or such, i am hoping i can just buy a longer tube or something?

If I were you I would put the AC70's up for sale.. make a few bucks off them since yah got them so cheap.. And buy a big canister or something like that..

With a 125 you want to be in the range of 1250 GPH, the two AC70's together give you 600GPH.. Not even half of what you should have for filtration..

I love the AC's myself, but in your situation Your either going to need to modify (or DIY) a couple AC110's or 5 AC70's..

IMO, keep shopping around for something more suitable to your tank

thanks for the advice bruiser! i was planning on getting a canister filter next weekend and using the three combined filters.. for the 120gallon..

is it possible to buy the parts for ac110's seperately? mainly the main tube that connects the one going into the water and the other one that feeds the motor? (sorry if i am horrible at explaining.

Yeah, I'm not real sure your getting at.. But that is one of the great things about Aqua Clear.. Lots of replacement parts..

ooh awesome! thanks for the help bruiser..

i was referring to the intake "U" tube (part D)... unfortunately the size for AC70 and AC110 appear identical =/

No problem. What is it you were going to try to do if they were a different size?

the main issue was that the U-tube was snugg tight against the filter unit A. if i was able to get a bigger u-tube, i could potentially avoid that problem and the filter can just hang out a bit.

i'll try to get some pictures up next week to explain.. hahaa.. especially if big als (the LFS), doesn't have a solution
