Change of heart

I've been a huge fan of Marineland Bio Wheel Filters since I've gotten into fish keeping. But yesterday my 150b was acting slugish after some proper maintenance I filled it up and plugged it back in, and NOTHING after hours of frustration trying to get the thing to work. I threw it all back in the box and back to PetSmart.
I wanted to get another BioWheel but of course they were out of them. For the same price I decided to try the Aqueon Quiet Flow 30.
I do like the Aqueon brand they are not as "cheap" as I thought I've used there fake plants and water conditioner before.
The filter is huge for my 10 gallon I had to shave of all the plastic i could on my hood and it still had to be propped up for the filter to fit.

It has an auto start pump, even though it takes more space in the tank I love it no priming!
The filter has a sufficient enough of room for media, I placed a Aquaclear sponge in it as well as some extra blue bonded padding.
The motor is silent but the waterfall noise is pretty loud and i love that.
Anyone else use Aqueon filters? This filter seems to have the most power compared to other brands I've used in the past.

I've never used the Aqueon filters. I'm interested to see how well you like it long-term. I use Aquaclears for hang on filters, and Rena XPs for canisters, and both have worked very well for me.

I LOVE Aqueon filters! They're so quiet and like you mentioned-no priming! I recently ordered several as bacteria builders for MTS and spares.

I've looked but never bought them. However I'm not a fan of the waterfall sound (I know I'm strange). Is yours loud b/c there's a gap between it and the water?

The water fall noise is created mostly from the flow rate and the wet/dry polisher grid at the front. Once you remove the plastic grid it is silent. You can remove the grid and be ok just make sure you have plenty of biological filtration from a sponge, ceramic discs or whatever else i think you fill this filter with any media. The 30 has plenty of space.

I also have the Aqueon 30 from their kit and I just love it. It's got quite the room as I was able to put a sponge in it and also some Biomax. I personally like the sound of the water but it's nice to know I can make it quieter.
