my friend just brought a 3ft tank which came with an undergravel filter but he dosn't want one he wants just a normal filter the ones with a power head a spray bar those fabric thing and noodles or will if he changes it will he need just one of those filters that stick on the glass the tank is 3ft long by 36 wide

Hello Krib. It would be a great help to know all of the dimensions of the tank to know what size it is gallon wise. Length, width and height.

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the type of filter you are mentioning. Hopefully someone else with that same filter will respond today. Have you checked the reviews section of the forum? Too, if you'll check out the "on line stores" linked above they may be of help to you as well.

Sorry, I don't understand your question. Do you want to switch your tank for your friends? If so, what are the measurements of the current and new tank? Also, what have you stockedin your current tank?
