47 Gallon Tank

I'd like to find out what filter would be good enough for a 47 gallon tank? The tank is a tall tank. It measures 13 1/4" W, 30 1/2" L, 27" H. Many thanks.

Everyone has their own favorite filter, but I really like my Aquatech 30-60 from Walmart. It wasn't expensive and it keeps my 55g sparkling! It would work perfectly for a 47g.

I've heard others say good things about the Whisper filters, but I have no experience with them.

Congrats on the new tank! Any stocking ideas for the future?

Hello Morgan and Welcome to Fish Lore! I really like my Aqua Clear (AC) 110 (w/500gph) They do a fantastic job and there is so much room for good bio media. Here is a link:

Thanks for the help folks. I still have time to look around as the tank just got resealed today with the silicone and then it needs to be tested for leaks.

Aqua clear is the way to go, you will want the AC 30-70 gallon, It will run all the water in your tank about 6.5 times an hour so it will get the job done. You can also put alot of fish in the tank becuase it has an amonia reducer, which gets rid of the harmful amonia. Many people use it for thier discus tanks so they have been put to the test and done well.

Thanks Tropical Aquarist. I have a different filter for my tank. None of the stores where I live carry Aqua Clear.
