filter recommendations please

Hi, I am supposed to pick up a 72 gallon bow front this weekend, it is supposed to have an aquaclear coming with it but dont know size.
I would like some recommendations regarding filtration for it. I only have experience with hang on back power filters and would like to go that route if possible. Not sure what with a tank this size

HELP

Did you say that an AquaClear would be coming with the package, or that you wanted additional filtration to go with the AquaClear?

Anyways, if you're going to have a lightly stocked tank, an AquaClear 70 (old 300) will do the job fine. If you are going to put a lot of fish in the tank, you'll need an AquaClear 110 (old 500). It can't hurt to over-filter.

Another great filter would be the Emperor Power filter with Bio-Wheel, from Marineland. Marineland products are always my favorite. An Emperor 400 would be just perfect. It provides great biological filtration from its Bio-Wheels.

Any questions? I'm a volunteer at AllExperts.com, in the Animals/Pets - Pet Fish- Freshwater Aquarium section. Feel free to ask me questions there, too!

Good Luck!

I'd go with a canister, in addition to the AC that comes with it.

I'm a big fan of the emperors as well, but NOT the penguins.

Hello Red. I would suggest the Aqua Clear (AC)110 with the 500gph. I have 2 of them and love 'em in addition to other filtration on my 265g. I don't feel that the AC 70 with 300gph would be enough by its self for a 72g tank. Try to keep your filtration 8 to 10 x the volume of your tank for best results.
Have fun with the new tank and don't forget to share if you can I'm excited for you!

It came with an aquaclear 110. So should I add something in addition to that or is it enough by itself
