Filter Question

Hey There, my girlfriends 10 gallon is almost cycled and I can't stand that she has a TopFin 10 on her tank. I think a Aquaclear filter would be great, but they are expensive, any suggestions for what she should do? Should she keep the TopFin or look into a better filter?

I have top fins on 2 of my tanks. They work ok but as soon as the filter cart gets full of stuff bypasses the cart and the water goes back to the tank unfiltered. I have a 30 on my 10 and a 60 on my 20 gal.

Personally, my favorite type of filter is a Rena, but I think that might be a little bit big for her tank. But if you can get your hands on a Nutrafin filter, I would say that is the next best type of filter to use. I have had nothing but success with those filters.

You can always look on ebay for a reasonable price filter.

Keep in mind that if you change the filter, it'd probably slow the cycle a bit. You could put the cartridge in the tank, or maybe in the new filter. But still...

What ever you get...run them together until the new filter is established and you won't have any cycle problems.

Yes I run a AC on my 10 gallon and you could even fit a AC 50 on it as well
