emperior 400 filter

I disassembled my filter and thoroughly cleaned it and it still doesn't seem to be pumping as much water as it used to. Any ideas??

I can see that it isn't pumping as much water. I remember the flow when I first got the filters.

The Bio Wheel itself slows as it's builds bacteria and other matter. I mention the wheel because it can create the effect of some extra turbulence via 'splashing' the waters surface when the filter is newer as there is no build up on the pleats and it's not yet water logged.

Also, did you inspect the impeller to make sure that there are no chips, etc... that might hinder it's full function?

There's also a spraybar that helps with agitating the water, play with the spray bar. ccb04 is also right, when I got the penguin 150b and the emperor 400, the wheel doesn't move as much because of bacteria build up causing less water agitation. If you really think your product is defective, pull you're filter apart and check if any parts are broken. As ccb04 said it might be the impeller, the replace parts are usually cheap. I think marineland has a 2 year warranty on filters and powersheads as well.
