Hi there!

I've had my 10 gallon tank for 3 years now. I have had the same filter the whole time, a Whisper 5-15. I just noticed the other day that it is running my slower than it used to. It used to have more of a waterfall effect. (In fact, my fish seemed to enjoy swimming in the current and getting swept away). Now, however, it is much much slower.

Do I just need a new filter? I tried filling it with water, I know that when you lose power you have to fill it back up with water in order for it to start up again but it didn't help.

take it apart and clean it in some used tank water...also, if you have live plants especially moss, that could be inside the intake

I agree with Shawnie, it may just need a good cleaning.

Yeah, haven't been around lately. :-) But fishlore is still my standby for questions!!

So take it apart and clean it. Will do. I'll post back to see if it helps. Thanks!

Okay. Just hardcore cleaned it. Found my manual and took it all apart. I have java moss and it was wrapped around the fan. (made me think of finding nemo haha) but yeah, it works just like the day I bought it!

awesome!!!..java moss is faboo for the tank, but stinks for filters..ive put sponges over the intake of all my java moss tanks..
