Marineland Filters

I have a Marineland Penguin 350 HOB on my 55 gallon. I have been pleased with it. I've recently recieved a 75 gallon tank with a Fluval 404 canister filter. It's time for me to get more filters for the penguin. There is a Marineland C-220 canister filter really cheap that I am looking at.

The Marineland Penguin 350 is rated at 350 gallons per hour.
The Marineland C-220 is rated at 220 gallons per hour.

The tank is a planted community tank.

Which is better since the C-220 is a canister?

Get the C-220 and add it to your 55G to run along with the penquin.

These numbers are deceiving and actually the manufacturers ratings without filter media.
Even if it was with the filter media, 350 + 220 = 570 = 10X turn over and
is just about right for a 55G.

Add another penguin to your 75G setup with the fluval so you can buy the same replacements for both penguins.
fluval + penguin:
340 + 350 = 710 = 10X turn over.

Hello aquatic mouse. Try to keep your filtration to 8 to 10 x the volume of your tank. Alicem has some good ideas I haven't used these filters personally.
Congrats on the 75g!

Thanx! I'll do that.
