using 2 filters for 1 tank

I recently added another filter to my 35 gal tank. The first one is a penplax cascade 200 for 55 gal and the second is aquaclear 150 for 30. Does this mean that I have 350 GPH now?/

It seems like a dumb questions but I know there is no such thing!!!

So that would mean 35gal x 10. Is that too much for this tank? Still trying to figure out what happen to my guppies...................

Personally I don't think it would be too much filtration. Are the fish being blown around the tank? If so and your filters have a flow control knob you can always turn it down a bit.

No it does not look like the fish are blown around but once they were already sick I found one stuck to the filter intake dead and the one that I found with 1 eye missing liked to be at the top of the tank right under the filter.................

Red to keep your fish from being sucked to the filters you can tie filter floss around the intake tube or you can get a sponge (aquarium filter sponge) slice an x in the top of it and slide it over the intake tube as well. Not only will this keep your fish from being sucked to it but give you more room for beneficial bacteria to grow.

Yes you can use the blue filter pads. Rinse it as you would your filter media in shiphoned tank water. As long as you rinse it along with your water changes you should not see a difference in the flow rate.

Thanks much Ken for the information and I will definitely try it. Do you think this had anything to do with the eye gone from the last guppy?

It's a possibility Red. Are there any aggressive fish in the tank? Anything he could of poked his eye on?
Always glad to help when I can

No aggressive fish and I cant figure out for the life of me what happened to his eye. I can only surmise that I definitely got a bad batch as all 6 died one behind another and it looks like each one had something different wrong with it. I wont buy guppies from that petco again. Its sad because I really liked them and the way they brought color to the tank.

Thanks again
