| I don't think it would be enough for that tank. I just researched the Emperor 280 and is 280 GPH recommended for a 25-50 gal tanks. |

| Hey, Tony.
You'll definitely be wanting between 264 and 330gph, depending on your stocking levels.
Hang in there, you'll find it |

| No, just finished setting up the tank and the cleanup afterwards. I'm quite drowsy, but I had to say hello, especially since this new filter sounds like Gollum from Lord of the Rings. |

| Tony, you normally want between 8-10x turnover with HOB filters. The more the better ... provided the current doesn't disturb the tanks inhabitants. Something like an AquaClear 70 (300 GPH) would seemingly be a solid choice. |

| Good morning. CCB has a good recommendation with the AquaClear 70. I have one on my 26g and I love it. It really does a fine job.
Good luck in your search!

| I would recomend the Aqua Clear 70 also.
I have an Aqua Clear 50 (200GPH) on my 29 gal, a little bit smaller than most people would recomend at about a 7x turnover, but it has always done a fine job.

| Pete I'm just guessing but I think it's probably that the plastic could crack easily under pressure. I haven't had any problems personally though. I'm anxious to see the response to your question from others as well.

| Pete, a little extra care in handling is all that's needed. Nothing drastic by any means, lol.
There's a reason AquaClear's are so popular and at the top when it comes to HOB filters. They work. The AC's biological filtration (the most important form of filtration) is 2nd to none when it comes to HOB filters. And in terms of filter media versatility ... they're like mini canisters. |

| They are very good filters, and I agree with all that ccb04 said about them. I have one on my tank now, and this fall when I get my betta tank, and my goldfish tank I will use AquaClears on them also.
The thing that makes them fragile is the plastic that the case is made out of. It is kind of brittle, so you have to be careful with it.

| Thanks. I figured as much. I've noticed that the plastic seems like a somewhat brittle polycarbonate.
