I have just changed my filter , and its a penguin 200 ! and it is put in correctly, checked it twice ! what else could be making it rattle ? the other one is doing fine it is always the same one !

Yup, I got the same exact filter. When it was new, it was driving me insane with the noise it made. It is a very noisy type of filter, that is the reason why it is cheaper than other equivalent filters.

I say wait until the filter gets old (month or two). As it gets old it makes slightly less noise, or so I have noticed.

Try removing and reseating the impeller, and see if that helps. Good luck.

If it's possible ( I don't have one of these filters) take a Q-Tip to the impeller area making sure it's clean and to the impeller itself. Once you're done with the Q-Tip soak the impeller with Nova Aqua or Prime or whatever you use on your fish as a slime coat. You can also soak the area where the impeller belongs. Some people have had good luck with this.
