I am thinking of getting a power head

Hey everyone , I just want to know what size power head should use with my 36 gallon hex tank? Cause I don`t think my main filter ( whisper 45 ex) is able to keep up . And yes the tank is cycled . I think my problem is that my mollies keeps on haveing babys here a list of fish that in there

1 cory catfish
1 betta
3 Adult Mollies and 15 Fry mollies in a breeder box
and I don`t have a another tank cycle to move the frys into

My ammonia is 0.25 nitirte 0 nitrate 20 Did a 50% water change today cause of that reading and I gravel vac weekly

would A power head help my main filter catch up? Thanks

Any ammonia reading at all suggests that the tank is not cycled, or is in a mini cycle. With your population explosion, I'm guessing mini cycle.

A powerhead will help eliminate dead spots and will help move detritus into the water column so your filter can pick it up, but it has no filtration capacity in and of itself. You can try it but it may not help. Some powerheads have sponge attachments that could help you with mechanical and biological filtration. If it were my tank, I'd add a canister filter with a spraybar, and mount the spraybar vertically in the tank. That's a much more expensive option though.

Here you go. The first link is for the powerhead, and the second link is for the Quick Filter attachment.

The first link tells you the flow rate of the powerheads, so just go from there.
