just looking for an opinoin

looking at getting a new filter and i wasnt sure which one to buy.

i have a twenty gallon tank with 5 bloodfin tetras,5 zebra danios, and three panda corys.

i wanted to get either a marineland 200b or an aquaclear 50.

both of these are obviously more than nessasary but i figure the more filtration the better.

anyway, im not sure which one to buy...kinda wanted the marineland 200b but ive heard some mixed thoughts on it from other places and was hoping to get a more definitive and experianced opinoin here.

Welcome to Fish Lore Jim. I prefer and use Aqua Clear. Lots of room for good bio media. Mine runs so quiet I have to check to make sure it's running. I've never used the Marineland 200b so I can't give you any information on that one but I'm sure someone else will. Have fun shopping!

It appears that you're talking about the Penguin 200 vs. the Aquaclear 50. I've used both brands many times and I much prefer the Aquaclear. I don't think the quality of the Penguin filters is that great, plus the Aquaclear is more quiet and doesn't use proprietary cartridges.

The AquaClear 50 should do the job nicely! I love all my AquaClears... they do run well and last a long long time...

Aqua Clear does a good job for me also! I have 3, although the model numbers changed, I have 2- 200's now called the 50 and also 1- 300 now known as the 70, all work well!
