XP3 tank with broken clip mounts

I have a Rena XP3 filter that's seen better days. Unfortunately, the mounts that hold the clips onto the filter tank have snapped, so I can't get the lid to seal.

Does anyone know if/how these can be repaired? I didn't have much luck searching for a replacement tank.

Have you tried ebay or craigslist?? Definitely not even epoxy will work - to much lateral stress on the hinge/clip to work or even last. There is one solution i used temporarily when my eheim suffered two broken clips that i couldn't repair. I used small/short bungy cords and strapped around both sides of the unit - i could get them taught enough to hold the top on without leaks. And then i used would blocks to level since the clips locked underneath the bottom. But this was only a short term solution - bungy cords eventually wear out/stretch - i hate to say it - but if you can't find replacement parts then your looking at replacing the unit

Rena's website doesn't list them individually, so you may not be able to replace just the clips. If you decide to replace the canister itself, they charge $71.95 (part number 861500-02) and they do ship to Canada.

That said, eBay or sale/trade forums like lew2000 mentioned may be a cheaper route.

For furture reference, they DO actually sell just parts. You need to go here.

http://www.frogpondaquatics.com

They have everything from rotors, bearings, CLIPS, media, baskets, any O-ring or seals you may need also. And yes, they do ship to Canada.

Also, Planet Rena is a good site also. But yes, it IS possible to buy just the clips.

Personally, I'd just go to the Rena website as your last paragraph suggests.

They only sell Rena stuff, the prices appear to the same, and I've found that, if there are problems, it's generally easier to deal with them if you bought directly from the manufacturer.

Contact Rena. DOnt know how long you had the filter but sometime these well established/known Co do replace simple parts for free depending on how you convince them. Try. Its worth a shot. "Squeeeeeeky wheel gets an oil" LOL!
