Direction of water flow throught filter ?

I have a Marineland Penguin Bio-Wheel filter. It has 4 compartments, 2 across and 2 deep. . I need to know which way the water flows through the filter so I can position the filter media properly.
Does it flow from the back wall to the front of the tank or visa versa ?
Does the water come in the bottom of the compartments or in the top ?
If my filter media has a course side and a fine side which side should be toward the front of the tank ?
TIA

The water is pumped in through the intake tube, and I believe in the larger Penguin filters that's in the middle. From there, the water flows to the back of the media on each side of the filter, and flows forward toward the tank. You should position the coarse side of the filter media toward the back and the fine side toward the tank.

The water comes in via the intake tube and is pumped into the back of the filter. The water then flow through your filter cartridges towards the front of the filter. As the water cascades down the wide shoots the flow turns the bio-wheels.

The course side of the cartridges should face the rear of the filter with the finer media facing the front of the filter.
