Experience with marineland hex 5?

Curious if anyone has any experience with the marineland hex 5 and it's filter?
I came home today and noticed that the biowheel wasn't spinning. I unplugged it, plugged it back in and now nothing is happening EXCEPT the filter is making almost a buzzing noise. no water suction or expulsion.

My Marineland 5g hex does that every time I do a water change and forget to unplug the filter. Once I loose the siphon I have a "somewhat" hard time getting it going again. Last month I had to take the filter into the kitchen sink, take it apart, clean it and start over. It has always worked after a few scary moments. As a matter of fact there is a web site that sell parts for it. I almost bought one, but like I said, it started again so I dropped the idea. I still think it might be a good idea to order a spare just in case.

Good Luck

yah, I cant get mine going at all.
Im gonna have to order one from marinelands parts site and just keep the biowheel floating in the tank to keep the bacteria alive until it comes

That's what I'd do. Too bad we couldn't order one for each of us so we could get a discount. Ha-Ha

I see you have a just a betta in the tank, if that's so (although you can) it's not necessary to keep the biowheel in because of the betta's labyrinth organ, they can handle harsher water conditions. Also remember if your tank is cycled those bacteria will be in the substrate and decorations. So if it's a relatively short time, you'd be alright.

yah, but safe then sorry. ****ed betta is so laid back he's getting bored to the point of tail eating and I can't find something to keep him entertained. He could care less about the wheel floating around so it'll be fine.

Ordered the filter with two day fedex(their fastest option) so, prolly see it monday.
