Flow rate slowing down

I'm day 4 into cycling the new tank. The flow rate of my canister has slowed by half and normally I would pull it apart to check it out. I'm concerned that I will disrupt the cycling process and while it is still flowing, I think it's probably best to leave it.
I would prefer to get the rate back up again if anyone can advise that the cycling process will not be affected by my pulling the canister apart, especially now that I have started to get readings in the last 24 hours.

For the short term of opening the canister and checking for why your flow has slowed shouldnt disrupt your cycle. If you take the baskets and media out of the water for awhile then I would say it can.
Best of luck on finding out what is happening.

Thanks for the replies. The hoses were fine, but the flow improved each time I primed the pump - much better now! Don't know what caused it - there must have been some of my decomposing squid stuck in the pump! LOL

Also check the intake hose. Mine has diatomes growing in it ( ??! ), check that you have nothing stuck in there.

Then there's the obvious, check that all the double-tap valves are open

The intake is not too bad. This unit doesn't have double taps like my Eheim. It has a lever on top when as you lift it, it seals both the inlet and outlet hose at the same time releasing the housing which holds both.
I actually enjoy working with this unit whereas the Eheim is a royal pain!
