What is the Quietest and Best filter on the market for freshwater, planted, tropical, 55 gallon fish tank setup?

Quiestest filters I know of are the canister ones. I use an Eheim 2213 classic which should work for your 55 gallon.

If you're looking for a HOB I really like my silent Aqua Clear. I have to check it at times to make sure it's still running simply because I can't hear it.
