Hi All,

I just bought a Tetra Whisper Ex70 at petco last night without doing some research, I finally did some research today and read many bad reviews. Most talked about how noisy it is and the filter cartridge is a bit pricey b/c it had to be changed every 2-3 weeks @ 3 bucks. I will most likely return it by tonight when I find a better filter to buy. I have a 50 gallon tank with clown loaches, bala sharks, red fin tinfoil barbs, and plecos. What are great filter systems that are quiet and greatly reliable? Any help is appreciated.

My Whisper EX is very quiet and I simply removed the carbon from the cartridge so no need to replace it every 3 to 4 weeks. You really shouldn’t replace your filter media unless it is absolutely necessary.

If you want truly quiet, high quality filtration that is reliable you really should consider a canister filter.

I decided to return it b/c it had too many bad reviews and I bought the emperor online, it should be shipped in a week or so. I heard many great reviews about this one.
