Red Sea Nano filter question this time

I have decided I wanted to replace the humungous internal filter I have going in my 2.5 gallon Minibow.

I ended up purchasing the Red Sea Deco Art Nano filter, which is a HOB meant for small tanks, after hearing some good things about it.

Now, I do not want to upset the cycle that I have tried so hard to maintain; so what would be the best way for me to accomplish this? The Red Sea of course uses different media.. and not having seen it first hand (only pictures) I'm unsure what I can do with its media.

I've taken into consideration what was posted in my other thread concerning changing filter media on an established tank, but I'm not sure this will still not upset things in this tank, because it is small and more challenging to keep cycled. I DO have a gravel substrate in there, if that helps.

there should be room in the nano to fit the media from what I assume was probably a whisper filter. if it is a whisper, just remove the green plastic frame and bend the biobag so that it will fit into the space where the nano cartridge would have gone. if you want to use the nano cartridge you can cut the biobag in half and use half of the old and half new

Oh, good Idea I didn't think of that!

Yes, it is a whisper. It looks almost exactly like this one: http://www.petco.com/product/12460/T...r-Filters.aspx It is a huge thing, and takes up alot of room.

Question..

I just got them both today, but one of them was leaking a little from where the pump twists out of the filter housing. My fiance tightened it up a bit, but now I'm a bit worried it will spontaneously do it again. Has this ever been an issue with these with anyone else? Is it real touchy at that spot; and am I going to just have to be real careful if I need to take it apart, that I put it back real tight?

Well, it didn't leak last night; but now I'm paranoid it might just up and decide to. Unless I'm just a noob with these, and it just wasn't on tight enough?

See the only other HOB filter I have is that aqueon.. and the pump is immersed in the water, so I never encountered this.

i think it probably just wasnt on tight enough, i'm not sure if i had that problem or not but i would just put a towel underneath it and keep an eye on it. it should be alright
