Hi all, i got a new(used) tank yesterday and included with it was a fluval 304 filter, all was being used before i collected it, but i have put it back together and it does not seem to be wprking, the little fan in the lid is going round, all the media is in place etc and the pipes are connected; in the water the suction pipe is connected to the out pipe, and the u bend piece is connected to the in pipe, but there is no water going into the filter or coming out, i have tried putting water from the tank into the filter to force it through, but this hasnt worked either. please help as i have lots of fish that need their new home asap.

Hi there I hope this helps have you primed the filter there should be a pump on the top that says START you start the syphen with that i use a fluval 205 and I find that if you fill the cannister with some tank water first then but the top on it makes the start faster...hope this helps Rob

With any canister filter, could just suck on return tubing (water back to tank; yuk but works) which will prime the enclosed system. Just wait until filled. Plug in and shake it little to rid of air pocket inside canister.

no i turned it off when i went to work. ok i sucked the pipe lol and got a mouthful of water, whcih wasnt nice, but it has started it. now i have another query. As im sure you have guessed, i havent used a cannister before, but the water seems to be trickling back into the tank, is this right becasue i was expecting it to be alot more powerful

ok the water has stopped coming out again and only trickles when i suck it and reconnect,so all im getting at the moment is a mouth full of tank water, does anyone know what ive done wrong, please help!!
