Quiet filter

Are there any filters that dont disturb the surface of the water, I have gouramis and want them to be as happy as they can be.

An under-gravel filter wont work becaus I eventually want kuhli loaches.

Spray Bar/Return Spout of Any Canister Filters can be directed towards bottom, slightly submerged thus no agitation on top.

you'd probably want the surface agitation to prevent the formation of an oil slick which would make your gouramis very unhappy.

well in regards to quietness, the fluval canister filter line is very nice. I keep mine in the cabinet of my stand and don't even hear it. The return part go sub, erged under the water to it does not disrupt the top by any means. However, it does create a pretty strong current where it comes out. Hoever, i think you can move it so that it comes out sideways and only creates a current in the back of the tank. Either way, it is very quiet and will not cause surface agitation.
