| Question for someone familiar with an Aquaclear 30 I got this filter second-hand (of course I cleaned it quite well), and have just put it together. In the manual, it says I need a mesh bag, which I don't have (perhaps it comes with the model originally). Is that a problem for me? Small question, but to me, important. :P

| I have an Aquaclear 30. The mesh bag is just to hold the Biomax ceramic media. You can use any sort of mesh bag or even pantyhose to hold the media. |

| ^That's good to know, thanks. The carbon and the ceramic media both came in mesh bags already. I imagine this means I don't have to re-bag them (I hope)?
So, how's the filter work for you? I've heard they're one of the best. |

| Hi Je55e
I love the aqua clear filters and have them on most of all my tanks. When you buy the filter new, the bio orbs are in a plastic bag, and the mesh bag is included in the box. Since yours is second hand someone else has already done this for you. No you will not have to re bag them. |

| ^Thanks =) but I meant when I bought the filter media (my filter came to me with all the parts, but no media included), they were already encased in mesh bags. Maybe they didn't do this before, but do it now? |

BUT I would really rinse the mesh bags under the tap water, because those bio orb's in the mesh bags are really dusty and will release all the fine particles into the tank if you put them in without rinsing them first. |

I love my filter, it works great. I had it stall once, but just washing out the fixed it right up. |

| I just bought an AquaClear 50, and that's something I just don't understand.
I bought some extra sponges and BioMax as I'm not using the carbon bags; 1 sponge and 2 BioMax.
So why does the filter come with the BioMax in a plastic bag and a separate mesh bag when the 'replacements' come prebagged?
Must save 'em like $.02 per filter unit or something.
Seems silly to me. |
