The 29 is here! AquaClear ?'s

Okay, so the 29 is here and set up. . . sorta. We filled it about 8 hours ago. The gravel that came with it had some sand mixed in. . . and although the water is clearing, it seems to be taking a while. This filter is an AquaClear 30-60. I am running two filter cartrideges, and wanted to know how long I should expect it to take to clear the water. Also, the intake is only about 6-8 inches below the water line. Can and should I buy an extension?
Eventual plan is planted, gravel substrate.

Well, with my filter cloudy water is normally cleared up overnight, it should almost diffidently be clear by tomorrow, especially with a small tank like that.

With a 29 gallon 6-8 inches below the surface should be about the middle of the tank, this should be just fine. The cloudy water should clear over night from filtration or settling. What kind of fish have you decided on ?

My tetra are going in there, and I am going to get about 2-4 more to round out the school, then I wanted to get a handful of cory cats, and I was thinking maybe a pair of angels? I dunno about the last, because alledgedly bleeding heart tetra can get a little fin-nippy. I'm having trouble finding something to go in the tank with them that will be happy with the water at 78, so I'm always open to suggestions.
"But what are you going to do with the ten?" you might ask. . . . a PUFFER!!!!!
