Submersible UV sterilizers?

I'm considering adding a UV Sterilizer. I dont have a ton of room for one, but I came across these...http://search.ebay.com/uv-sterilizer...dZp1638Q2em120

Anyone ever try one? Pro's, Con's?

Please read the following article on UV sterilization.

http://www.americanaquariumproducts....ilization.html

I have a submersible unit (18W Resun UV-05) but the one I have does take some room inside my tank. Since it's a 6 footer, 145gal tank, I found the way to hide it behind driftwood, planted pots, Indian Almond Leaves...

Not all UV units available for sale work well, you are doing great by asking around.

Thank you for sharing this, now I will look around this particular design.

My experience with Jialu brand is that they produce somewhat cheap products but with fair quality. Be careful when handling the plastic assemblies, they can brake somewhat easily. Otherwise they seem to be as good product as any.

I used one Jialu internal filter as small powerhead in a DIY CO2 system -for the reactor- it failed shortly afterwards -beware I was using it for a purpose it was not designed for. I have a couple of Jialu brand small powerheads working elsewhere as internal filters and they work wonderfully.

Thanks Pepe!

I'll keep your info in mind. I'm just looking for a little help fighting algae. My tank is in my living room and I like to keep the light on to display it alot. I recently cut the time they are on by about 2 hours and added some more algae eaters. It seems to be helping, but I wouldnt mind adding a small UV if it will get rid of it completely.
