Yer a undergravel filter is very handy becaause it means LESS WATER CHANGES

A powerhead isnt necessary but if u have 1 spare then i dont c why u couldnt put it in. It would help stir the water and create a current

I am new to the forum also but from what I can tell Matt is the resident greeter here haha... What fish do you have in your tank?

EDIT: Nevermind I can read your aquarium info haha...I dont see any fish there that wouldn't like a little bit of current every now and then.

That would depend on the GPH rating of the power head. Most are rated at 80 -170 GPH and can be pretty strong for a 10 gallon.I don't see a problem, there would definitely be plenty of water volume flow, and lots of gas exchange. Unless the fish are having trouble swimming,or the food is being pulled to the bottom before they can eat it;I wouldn't worry too much.
