I am Just wondering as I am sitting here scanning the web to put together my sister's aquarium for Christmas, it will be a green and tiger barb tank. we're talking like 20-30 gallons. so whats the best filter?

When using wet/dry filters, I stick with the Penguin brand.

If you decide on the penguin bio wheel for a 30 gallon tank I would suggest purchasing the 50 gallon version and not the 30 gallon version. IMHO

Aqua Clear 50 if not a 70 depending on which you choose. Room for lots of filter bio media.

I have an aquaclear 50 on my 20-gal and it works great! If you end up with a 30 gal tank then I'd go with the aquaclear 70.

i hate to vote for it being the 'best' because i dont have much for comparison, but i have a topfin 20 and topfin 30, they dont have room for extra media, but the filters are cheap, they do a fine job, and so far have been very dependable.

the only thing HOB i can compare them to is the emperor 280, and i take the topfin over it hands down. the emperor is very loud and doesnt seem to filter quite as well, even tho its rated much higher than the topfin 30.
