| Get a bucket out and pull the filter apart (the bucket is to catch the water and garbage that will come out of the filter). Take a bottle brush (if you have one) and use it to scrub out the algae and gunk that has built up. Clean off the impeller, and check to make sure none of the filter media is too seriously gummed up.
Try running it.
If that doesn't work, try this:
Do you feel the filter humming when you touch it? If so, that means that the motor is spinning but the impeller isn't picking up the movement (or something to that effect, I think). You may want to try replacing the impeller before buying a whole new filter. |
