filtration for 27 gal hexagon tank...

Hi everyone I have decided to revamp my 27 gallon hexagon tank and had a few questions regarding filtration. they are stated below

#1, since my bioload will be small (livebearers and one gourami) would a power filter such as top fin, Aqueon, whipser, or petco work?

#2, along with the power filter would a economy corner filter keep the bottom clean?, i have had problems in the past with keeping the water on the bottom as clean as the water on the top.

#3, I was discouraged from using an undergravel filter becuase of having to tear the tank about once or twice a yeara to clean under it, is this true?

please respond becuase this weekend I'm going out to buy all the supplies and equipment for it. thanx again!

1) A power filter would probably work. If you can do so, check at the store to see if the filter will fit over the edge of the tank. I bought a whisper for my hex tank and ended up having to get a different one because the lip of the tank was thicker and the tank sides weren't wide enough for the HOB to go on.

2) That would probably work pretty well.

3) I have a UGF run by a power filter under my hex aquarium and have not had to break it down. It's still running fine. Even better would be if you set up a reverse UGF, which doesn't suck the gunk down into the bed, it pushes it up so the other filters can catch it.
The best thing about UGFs is that they introduce vertical circulation (a good thing if you've got a taller tank.

thanx Sirdarksol, so I can use the corner filter instead of the UG filter to keep the bottom clean, this is the one readily available to me
