I'm a chronic filter tester. Everytime I'm in the fish store I look around and go oh a new filter! I haven't seen that one before I wonder how it works?
Anyway I was in Petcetera today and I noticed these filters, air-lift style submersible. Since I already have an air driven filter that I'm going to chuck I was thinking that I could try to salvage the air pump at least and use it as a filter for either one of the betta's or else use it in the QT tank. It says that it's good for tanks up to 15 gal so would that be too much for a smaller tank or what do you guys think?

Also I'm trying to get out of having to buy filter carterages so if I put it in an already cycled tank would it be ok on it's own or would I be looking at a mini cycle again?

if its too much, get some filter sponge and slip it over the intake or out take....you can put it in an already cycled tank if you keep the established filter in there with it...or just throw the cartridge it came with in the tank for two weeks...
