My mom's filter is over flowing. The water is coming out where the tube goes in. What do I do?

I hope you've turned it off to start. The tank will be ok without it running for a bit. What kind of filter are we talking about? Hang on back, sump, wet/dry filter, canister?

This sounds to me like the flow rate is faster than the filter pad is passing the water so it is trickling back out around the uptake tube. I would suggest cleaning or replacing the filter pad/cartridge.

I think I did that, unless that was my filter I'm tinking about. M y mom is cleaning it now so we'll see if thats it.

If it is a HOB filter and the water is just trickling back down into the tank it is not a big deal except that part of the water is not getting filtered...as mentioned earlier cleaning the media should help.

Use tank water or dechlorinated water ONLY or it will kill the bacteria..
