I have a TetraTec 700 that I am running in parallel with a standard Juwel filter, my question is how long will I have to run the TetraTec in parallel with the existing internal filter before it will have enough beneficial bacteria so that I can remove the internal filter?

1-2 weeks should do it...I would err on the side of caution and go a bit longer if possible.

If you can take some media from the Juwel and put it with the new media in the TetraTec, that would really speed things along.

Why not keep both running? I use multiple filters as a rule of thumb. Will help your fish with better water quality.
