is it good to have air blowing internal filter?

hi
i am getting a new filter for my tank in one week and need to know if it is good to have one of those internal filters that you connect your air hose to and out comes the bubbles with the water. is this good? or should i just stick with the normal ones? (29 gallon)
thanks

I only use those for very small aquariums. I would recommend that you not get one for this size tank. In my experience I have seen that these are the worst types of filters. The bubblers they are connected to over heat and the water flow gets really slow, sometimes even stopping. I would suggest a normal power filter. I do not know if this problem happens to one brand of these filters, but I used the tetra brand.

i think it might depend on what kind of air source you're using. i had one of those (not tetra), and the air source was essentially the environment (venturi effect) so it won't overheat from the air (unless it's really really hot, but you'd have other issues at that point) i like it because it's like a bubble wall and a filter in one, but i don't know that i would make that my only filter in a larger tank, but that's mainly because of the amount of space needed for the filter is something i'd prefer to use for plants or fish or something else. hope that helped
