I'm having a bit of a problem with my 29Gal tank. When I bought it, it came as a complete package with an under gravel filter. Everything was fine for a while, but now I'm having problems with cloudy water.

I was wondering if maybe an extra filter would help. I know people don't generally like under gravel filters anyway, but that was what came with the package. If I got a filter to hang over the back of the tank, would that help with the cloudiness of the water?

If so, Would I need a filter especially for a 29Gal, or could I get away with a smaller one, if it ran in tandem with the under gravel filter I have running already?

If I were you... I would put it on there. I dont think there is such a thing as TO much filtering. I have two filters running on my 20 gal, It adds up to 250 GPH, so its pretty sweet. In my 10 gal, I have one filter thats just 100 gph, but its stocked with smaller fish that produce far less waste.
