CPR bak-pak

Forgive me if my guestions have answered before. I recently bought a used 45gal. tank that came with a CPR bak-pak (not sure what model as it is 3-4 years old and doesn't look like the ones on the CPR site.) I was wondering if I am going to need to add carbon (if so how much). I has the blue bio bale stuff in it already, just wondering if that will be enough? My only experience is with a 20gal. that came as a kit and has the "regular" filter setup.

Well in all honesty im not very much into filters, but if it seems 3-4years old it might be a good idea to update it, if you have 60 buks to spare you can run to petco and get an emperor 280 bio wheel, which is what i use and it works excellently. As for the carbon youll need to wait for someone else as ive said im not very Savvy when it comes to filters
Edit: Just a note that filter works for up to 55 gal tanks
