I just this second noticed that one of my hang off the back filters has stopped.
I've figured out that the intake tube has pulled away from the impeller. I don't know how long its been stalled. It could have been all day. Do I toss the media and restart with new filters? I don't want to poison everyone with possible dead bacteria and ammonia. I do have the other filter (larger one) running.
I'll wait to see if any of you guys have suggestions. Thanks, Jess

If this happened just today in your Discus tank, rinse your used media in water from the tank and put it back in, please do check your water parameters a few hours afterwards, those beautiful guys you have deserve it (I saw your pictures the other day, thanks for sharing them with us). That's what I have done (has happened at least three times so far with my beloved AquaClear 50 -out of service for a couple of days now-, never with my 70s and once with one of the 110s)

I was panicked, this is what I did. . .
Took out old filter, replaced with new.
Swished out ceramic bags in a bucket of tank water (hoping to save some good bacteria)
What I had done was put the whole intake tube in backward (never done that before) It looked like it was working but really wasn't. Thank God I have two filters running.
I will check parameters and do a water change.
