Which will work better?

So I am setting up a 29g tank in order to move my scissortail and corycat to a nicer tank (and get them in schools like they should be) and I was wondering which of these ways would be best, or if I should not try it at all.

When I cut the charcoal out of the whisper micro filter cartridge I shoved a small whisper 3i cartridge inside it. Now I am wondering if I should move the small cartridge into the 29g and leave the medium one in the 2.5g or if I should move the medium one into the 29g and put a new medium along with the old small in the whisper micro filter. (obviusly I will put a marineland filter in the biowheel filter also) Or should I just wait out the 2 months of cycling?

I just feel so bad for the cory cat and the scissortail and want to get them moved as soon as possible.

Sorry if this is confusing... I'm not sure how to explain it!

2 months for cycling? If yo go fishless-cycling, you can cycle from scratch -no seeded media in 14-16 days; if you use seeded media, you would likely cycle in 11 to 12 days.

I would seed with the small media, so I don't risk disrupting the already cycled tank.

I agree, use the smallest amount of media out of the 2.5g or you are risking a mini cycle in the 2.5g as well by taking out too much bacteria at one time. You also need to have ammonia in the 29g to feed the bacteria or they will just die anyway.
