Eheim cleaning..

When I clean the eheim ecco I always take the tubing and clean it out... what I can't get over is the large amounts of algae in the tubing.. what causes that? Is that normal? After about a month the eheim has to be cleaned like that... I take the canister apart every 2 weeks.. then every other time get the tubing out and clean it.... if I don't the flowrate is awlful. That goes for all three of my eheims. My biowheels that are on those tanks work wonderfully, I clean the filters in them every 2 weeks in old tank water, just like the canister contents...

Any suggestions... the eheim book says that it shouldn't have to be cleaned but every 2 months... but is that just fantasy world? Or is that for reg aquariums, maybe since I have overstocked cichlid tanks it makes a difference...

BTW, my water parameters are perfect, my Nitrites, ammonia is -0-, nitrates 10, ph 8... temp 78.... I even have a lower stocked 55 for malawis there is only 12 fish in that tank, because its larger malawis they are full grown fellas/ladies... my 36 has 7 malawis, and my 58 has around 17 malawis and each has 1 pleco except the 58 it has 2 very small plecos...

The filters are as follows... the 55 has a eheim rated for a 60g, bio wheel rated for a 75g, the 36g has a eheim rated for a 35g, a bio wheel rated for a 50?, the 58g has an eheim rated for a 90g and a biowheel rated for a 75g...
