filtration question

just out of curiosity since I have two Aqua Tech 30-60 power filters with a 660gph rating.. could I possibly slightly over stock according to the 1" to 1 gallon rule?

depends on what you are overstocking with

overstocking some tetras might be ok, but overstocking with oscars wouldnt...

This is what I want my tank to finsh with.. I think.. lol.

3 Honey Sunset Gouramis - 12"

3 Sparking Gouramis - 5"

7 Cherry Barbs - 14"

10 Neon Tetras - 12"

4 Peppered Corys - 12"

1 Rubber Lip Pleco - 5"

6 Ghost Shrimp - 0"

that puts me at 60" and I really would like to add one more fish... something unique med/small that hangs out at mid-level..

That makes a world of difference, lol

I was trying to figure out how all those fish would even fit in a 20gal, nevermind the bio load.

you can actually use 1.2" per gallon. We Americans always say 1" per gallon, but everyone else says 1cm per liter...which converts to 1.2" per gallon. I'm pretty sure it will work in American aquariums if it works every where else, lol.

By that measure, your 55G can hold 66" of fish. You can even exceed that, but you'll need to change water more often.

that should be fine because those fish are small

Okie Dokie... I have FINALLY finished stocking my tank lol for now atleast... took me forever to decide on what to get... so my 55 gallon tank with two 30-60 power filters rated at 660gph, is currently stocked with;

3 Honey Sunset Gouramis - 12"
3 Sparkling Gouramis - 4.5"
5 Cherry Barbs - 10"
10 Neon Tetras - 12"
4 Peppered Corys - 12"
6 Ghost Shrimp - 0"
Female Betta (Sprite) - 2.5"

Which equals 53" of fish.. YAY..

Everyone is getting along GREAT.. its amazing... I have been watching the female betta very closely for signs of aggression but she loves all the fish and the more plants and more room..!!
