Situation- 46G Cichlid tank has 1 Odyssea CFS 4 (upto 75Gal) canister filter on it and it used to have a TetraTec PF300 with it. PF300 was moved to our 20Gal with 60 Fry in it. After talking to Allie in the Cichlid section, I may want to get 3-5 more fish for the tank.

Would this filter be ok for upto 9 Cichlids? Or I was thinking of building a filter using a 1000GPH pump that we have. I know it wouldn't circulate at that rate but would circulate better then the canister which is rated at about 250-300GPH and I can hook it up into the UGJ's currently in use. The pump is not really used for anything except water changes when I'm feeling lazy (change the water in about 5min... 50% empty and fill).

you are over filtering already, so I would stick to that, it's best to over filter, but it would probably be wasted if you over filter too much, if your worried about water quality, then add an amonia filter to your existing set up or just clean it out more often.

Thanks. I was looking more for water circulation along with filtering. Right now with the canister filter I have a 250GPH pump on the 4 jets. I would like to run all of them (6) but don't want to buy another pump.
