i'm still in the process of cycling my tank, but it looks like the bio-bags i have in the filter is clogged up. can i change these without compromising my beneficial bacteria?

I would just rinse them in a bucket of TANK water... make sure you don't rinse it in tap water or you could kill all the good bacteria. They can be replaced every so often when they get really nasty, but I would try swishing it around in a bucket of tank water first.

i tried to wash it in tank water, but that didn't really help. i think i will change just one out while i the one from drsfostersmith to replace these ones. i'll just save them for when i need to use the carbon to filter the water much later.
