ECO Filters for Freshwater set up ?????

Ok so here goes.... we have a 55 gal right now, and we are using an ehiem canister filter along with a whisper filter which is working perfectly. The tank has been set up since last Oct and there are approximatly 18 chiclids and 8 bottoms feeders some of which are quite large. We have not lost one fish yet. In fact we have had 3 new broods with 8 surviving fry that are now anywhere from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2inches long. We use water conditioner and aquarium salt, and do regular water changes. Our question We have recently purchased 150gallon bow front that was used for a saltwater setup ... it has a sump overflow that we are guessings is approx 40 gallon Its brand name is ECO Filter.... We would like to use this in our freshwater set up of this tank... can anyone give us any direction at all, as this is our first experience using the ECO Filter sump system. Will we need to use the ehiem in addition to the sump filter? Please Help ... We cant wait to get our beautiful fish into a bigger environment.

HI, WELCOME TO FISHLORE!

I don't have experience with sumps OR an eco filter, I'm bumping this up where maybe someone will see it and help you out.

Congrats by the way on your lovely tank, sounds like the new one is coming just in the nick of time! The 55 is very pretty though I bet the nitrates are out of this world to keep up with....

Maybe since this is a saltwater setup, someone from that group will see it soon and have an answer for you...
